The Uniqueness of Bainbridge Island & The Marshall Suites

On Bainbridge Island, a place where a lot of ongoing history is being recorded, there is a bustling home town feel that grounds everyone who visits. Deemed one of the safest places to live in Washington, the island is a short ferry ride (30 min.) from Seattle. On the island, nature is visibly abundant, the inhabitants share their neighbourhood with many native owls, rabbits, deer and even the occasional otter. A brisk walk on the well groomed trails running through the town is a pleasant activity surely everyone can enjoy at their own pace, or even taking a leisurely country drive to see some historic buildings and cottage homes is quite lovely. And if you are a first time visitor, the museum and botanical gardens are a must, not to mention a stay at Marshall Suites.

Marshall Suites, although a new building to Bainbridge, has become a staple in the community and it is easy to see why. From the iconic photography that marks the walls, to the staff who are abreast with current local information and stories of history long time now passed. Your stay will be complete with a well varied and thoughtful homemade breakfast, serving real eggs and bacon, and showcasing local products, such as strawberry jam when in season. A debonaire quality kisses the rooms with a classic decoration style. And each guest has at their personal use bathrobe and slippers, that are just as comfortable as the soft linens that drape the king size beds. The suites are spacious and well styled, allowing for a quality and comfortable stay, you will also find a coffee maker with fridge set up, and if requested it can be stocked for you, so you can just stay in.

“I loved the classic at home feel and hospitality that was felt throughout the building and through the service of the well trained and thoughtful staff. It’s more than just a place to stay.” ~ Nikki Whelan, Travel Writer (Costa Pacifica LIVING Magazine)

Truly, Marshall Suites could be the ideal couples getaway, a place away from city life giving way to a moment of connection and comfort. There were various families who stayed during my visit who were up and at it early in the day to take in a piece of history and enjoy the outdoors. I myself, travelled alone and enjoyed retreating to the Suites to kick up my feet and relax after exploring the friendly town and its main street, with many shops and small restaurants each with their own unique offering. I definitely made sure to catch the 4 o’clock fresh baked cookies at the reception, it’s a nice touch everyone, including Granny, would love.
